No new COVID-19 cases in Peace Region, 33 new in Alberta

There were 33 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Alberta on Tuesday, while the North Zone saw no new cases for May 19.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, also announced that there have been no new fatalities related to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, keeping the number of deaths in Alberta at 128.

As of May 19, there are 1,004 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, while 5,854 people have recovered. Those recoveries account for 87 per cent of all cases in Alberta.

As of Tuesday, there are 17 active cases in Northern Alberta, while 197 have recovered. Fifteen people in the North Zone have died from COVID-19.

• City of Grande Prairie: Three cases (All recovered)
• County of Grande Prairie: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
• M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (Three active, 54 recovered, ten deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 36 cases (One active, 33 recovered, two deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
• Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
• M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
• Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
• County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Seven active, 26 recovered)

Hospitalizations and ICU admissions have decreased over the past 24 hours. Four people have left hospital, leaving 61 people admitted in Alberta. Eight of those patients have been admitted to intensive care.

2,046 people have been tested over the past 24 hours at the provincial lab, meaning 201,283 people in Alberta have been tested as of May 19. 15,284 people in Northern Alberta have received a test, an increase if 116 from Monday.
