Second active COVID-19 case identified in City of Grande Prairie
A new case of COVID-19 has been reported in the City of Grande Prairie in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the city to two. One case was confirmed in Grande Prairie yesterday.
No other new cases were confirmed in the North Zone, while two more have recovered, bringing the active total in the Zone to 16, and 199 recovered. Fifteen people in the North Zone have died from COVID-19.
Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, confirmed 33 new cases of COVID-19 as of May 21, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 926. She also confirmed that overall in the province, 5,710 have recovered from the novel coronavirus.
Four more deaths were confirmed, including a man in his 70’s, a woman and man in their 80’s, and a woman in her 90’s, all at continuing care facilities in the Calgary Zone. A total of 132 individuals in the province have now died due to COVID-19.
