Fire ban lifted in County of Grande Prairie

May 27, 2020 | 2:28 PM

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service has lifted its fire ban.

Effective immediately, the fire bans for the Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, Wembley and the Village of Hythe are no longer being enforced.

The County is reminding residents that though they have lifted the ban, burn permits are still required during fire season, and that burning is not allowed when winds reach 12 km an hour or higher.

They say that regulations will be in place for the public and Regional Fire Services members, including personal protective equipment and physical distancing measures for Fire Guardians performing site inspections for permit requests.
