Drugs, firearms seized in arrest of Grande Prairie men

A months-long investigation by the RCMP has led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, and the arrest of two Grande Prairie men.

On Friday, May 22, the Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Drug Unit, with assistance of the Grande Prairie RCMP General Duty, executed search warrants on a residence and a vehicle.

The searches led to the discovery and seizure of drugs which were packaged in various quantities for distribution.

In total, the RCMP seized:

  • 2 kg of cannabis marijuana derivatives
  • 497 Oxycodone pills
  • 46 blots of LSD
  • 90g of MDMA
  • 112g of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
  • 7 g of cocaine

The searches also led to the discovery and seizure of a .22 calibre handgun with ammunition, a 12 gauge shotgun with ammunition, an electronic heated press, an electronic money counter, and over $1800 in cash.

The two males, aged 18 and 23 years and both from Grande Prairie, were arrested. Charges are pending, and both are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court of August 12, 2020.
