One COVID-19 case removed from Grande Prairie, province adds 15

There were 15 cases of COVID-19 added in Alberta on Thursday, while the City of Grande Prairie dropped one of its active cases from the day prior.

Data on Alberta Health’s COVID-19 aggregate data website shows the Swan City at 18 total cases as of June 4, which is one less than announced on Wednesday. The province is now reporting 12 active cases in Grande Prairie, while six cases have recovered.

Changes to data in the past have been due to a patient’s primary address moving their case to another location, as well as presumptive positive tests coming back negative.

There are now 334 active cases of the disease in Alberta, while 6,611 people have recovered.

Case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (12 active, six recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Six cases (One active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 68 cases (58 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (33 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 34 cases (One active, 32 recovered)

One more person has died from COVID-19, bringing the number of fatalities in Alberta to 146.

A total of 275,524 tests have been processed at the provincial lab as of June 4, with 4,226 being completed over the past 24 hours. 19,248 people from the North Zone have been tested.

The number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Alberta remained the same as Wednesday, with 48 people currently in hospital, six of whom are in ICU.
