County of Grande Prairie adds one new case of COVID-19 Monday

The province has confirmed one new active case of COVID-19 in the County of Grande Prairie in the last 48 hours, bringing the total number of cases to seven, with six recovered and one active.

Two previously confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the City have been removed, dropping the total to nine active cases. There are also seven recoveries.

The province confirmed 64 new cases in the last 48 hours, as no COVID-19 update was given on Sunday, June 7.

Five more cases were also added to Big Lakes County, as well as two more deaths, bringing the number of deaths there to five. The province’s total number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus sits at 149.

A death that was previously recorded in Clear Hills County has also been removed, leaving that area with one active case. As well, a previously recorded death in the M.D. of Peace was also removed, leaving that area with six recovered cases.

Alberta now has 355 active cases of COVID-19, with the North Zone accounting for 16 of those cases. The province has confirmed that 6,698 cases in total have recovered, while the North has seen 211 recovered cases.

Case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 8 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 16 cases (Nine active, seven recovered)
• County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (One active, six recovered)
• M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
• Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
• M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
• Clear Hills County: One case (Active)
• County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Two active, 31 recovered)

The province has processed 298,696 tests in total, with 74,390 of those tests were completed in the North Zone.

The number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the province remained the same since Saturday, with 44 people currently in hospital, six of whom are in ICU.
