WATCH: Province to update on timing of stage two of relaunch

Jun 9, 2020 | 11:07 AM

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw and Health Minister Tyler Shandro are set to provide an update on the province’s plans on when and how they will move into the second phase of its economic relaunch strategy.

The province has estimated that June 19 would be when stage two would commence, but Dr. Hinshaw did say during a COVID-19 update last week that date could be moved up due to low rates of hospitalization and low increases in infections in the province.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:30 mountain time and can be viewed below:

Stage one of the relaunch began May 14 here in the Peace Country, which allowed for restaurants, pubs, retail stores, hair salons, museums, art galleries, daycares, day camps, summer school and places of worship to open their doors with restrictions in place.

Stage two calls for the reopening of more health businesses like acupuncture and massage therapy, personal services businesses such as manicures and pedicures, as well as libraries and movie theatres with restrictions in place.
