Two new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie, one more recovery

The province added 30 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, while the City of Grande Prairie added two new cases for June 12.

The two new cases in Grande Prairie come as one more case has been deemed recovered by Alberta Health. There are now six active cases in the Swan City and 12 recoveries.

There are now 386 active cases of COVID-19 in the province as of Friday, while 6,811 people have recovered.

Case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 12 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (Six active, 12 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Active)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (Two active, 31 recovered)

There were no new deaths reported on Friday, keeping the death toll from COVID-19 in Alberta at 149.

The increase in cases comes as 7,746 tests were processed over the last 24 hours. 325,148 tests have now been completed since the onset of the pandemic, while 22,752 people from Northern Alberta have been tested.

Hospitalizations jumped by eight to 53 in Alberta as of June 12, with six of those admitted to ICU. Four people in the North Zone are in hospital at this time.
