Search for new Spring Lake Campground caretaker underway

Jun 15, 2020 | 1:59 PM

A new caretaker is needed for Spring Lake Campground before it can reopen.

Brian Ballard, Director of Community & Protective Services for Saddle Hills County, says they took over the campground last year after the previous owners had to close in May 2019.

“By the time that we got the lease and got somebody in place to open it up, it was open from the September long weekend to the end of September last year. This year, opening has been delayed by COVID, but also we have some work scheduled where we’re going to be replacing the washrooms.”

The campground had previously planned to open up on June 12, but Ballard says that the previous caretakers they had lined up had to step back due to health concerns.

Those interested in becoming a caretaker for the campground can find more information here.

“It needs to be somebody that’s good with working with the public and is able to be there often enough to effectively manage it,” said Ballard.

He says that once they find a new caretaker and finish the new washroom facilities, they will be able to open for the season.
