No change to Peace Region COVID-19 cases Wednesday

There was no change among Peace Region municipalities Wednesday as the province added 48 new cases of COVID-19 for June 17.

There remains two active cases in the City of Grande Prairie, according to Alberta Health, while there are 10 active in Clear Hills County. There are now 486 active cases across Alberta, with 6,893 people having recovered.

Updated cases totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day June 16 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (Two active, 16 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: Ten cases (All active)
  • County of Northern Lights: Zero cases
  • Mackenzie County: 32 cases (One active, 32 recovered)

There were 6,982 tests processed over the last 24 hours in Alberta, meaning nearly 357,000 tests have been administered over the course of the pandemic in the province. Just under 25,000 people from Northern Alberta have been tested as of June 17

There are now 38 people in hospital in Alberta with seven of those individuals in ICU. There continues to be three people in hospital in the North Zone, with one of those individuals in intensive care.

No new deaths were reported over the last 24 hours, keeping the number of fatalities attributed to COVID-19 at 151.
