No change in Peace Region COVID-19 cases Saturday

There was no change among Peace Region COVID-19 cases on Saturday, as Alberta added 48 new cases for June 20. All new cases were identified in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones, with the exception of one new case in an unknown zone.

The increase brings the number of active cases in Alberta to 525, while nearly 7,000 people have recovered (6,996).

There were no additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Alberta for June 20, keeping the number of fatalities at 152. Sixteen people from northern Alberta have died from COVID-19.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of Saturday are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 18 cases (One active, 17 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (57 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 40 cases (35 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: Ten cases (All active)
  • County of Northern Lights: Zero cases
  • Mackenzie County: 33 cases (All recovered)

There are 39 people in hospital in Alberta with COVID-19, including six in ICU. There remains three people in hospital in northern Alberta, with one of those patients in intensive care.

A total of 7,351 tests have been processed over the last 24 hours at the provincial lab, bringing the total number of tests completed to 381,075 as of June 20. 26,432 people from northern Alberta have been tested.
