Buskers set to return to downtown Grande Prairie July 3

After a successful first year in 2019, buskers are getting ready to re-take the streets of Grande Prairie this summer.

The Grande Prairie Downtown Association, in partnership with the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association, plans to have local buskers from the area provide entertainment for the city’s residents every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer until August 29.

Wendy Bosch with the Grande Prairie Downtown Association says that because last year’s busking performances were met with good reviews, they felt they had no choice but to expand the number of performances this summer.

“Last year was our first busking experience in the Grande Prairie area, this year we are going to do more shows than we did in the past year and I think it’s going to really resonate with the community, because we haven’t had a lot entertainment in the recent months.

“To see some live entertainment by singers, musicians and dancers I think it will be fabulous for the public.”

Bosch mentioned that they plan to have 41 shows this year, that will be spread throughout different parts of downtown Grande Prairie.

The shows will be located at the following locations throughout downtown.

Friday:

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Fourteen 14 Food Co. (10120 100 Avenue).

2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Cree8ive Ink Body Studio (10024 100 Avenue)

Saturday:

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Farmers Market (10032 101 Avenue)

2:00 – 4:00 p.m. lon 100 Avenue near Bama Furniture (roaming throughout downtown)

“They are all local and just excellent performers. There is excellent talent that we have here in the core,” said Bosch.

Bosch says that with the success of last years buskers, she thinks that it will only continue to grow over the years.

“It was well received last year and this year I think it’ll even be better. It will be something that will become a staple in the core.”
