Most Peace Region crops in good shape, some under moisture stress

Jun 26, 2020 | 2:16 PM

Alberta Agriculture’s June 23 crop report says 72.3 per cent of the Peace Region crop is rated in good to excellent condition.

The report also says 75.2 per cent of the spring wheat, 73.8 per cent of the oats, 72.2 per cent of the canola, 69.5 per cent of the barley and 67.7 per cent of the dry peas have the same rating.

The report says the wind has interrupted spraying and there are some crops turning yellow from too much moisture.

Twelve per cent of the soil moisture is rated excessive, with 87 per cent considered good or excellent.
