Two people in custody after pursuit by High Prairie RCMP

Jun 27, 2020 | 10:18 AM

A 34-year-old man and 36-year-old woman are in custody after they allegedly ran from High Prairie RCMP while they were attempting to execute a Canada Wide Warrant.

Acting on tips from the public, police went to a residence about 25 km north of High Prairie around 2:30 Friday afternoon, only to have a man and woman flee the scene on foot.

RCMP air and dog services were brought in to help, and at around 5:30 pm took the 36-year-old female into custody about 3 km from the property.

She was treated by AHS personnel for bite wounds she got while being apprehended.

A male continued to elude mounties, even using an all terrain vehicle, before eventually being captured in a remote area about 3 km northwest of High Prairie.

34-year-old Dustin Tyler John St. Laurent was arrested on a Canada Wide Warrant for breach of statutory release and an Alberta warrant for failing to appear.

He faces additional charges that will be announced once the information is sworn in court.
