BC Peace clubs now also part of Curl BC

Seven curling clubs in BC are now part of both Curl BC and Curling Alberta after those two reached an agreement.

This includes the clubs in Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Taylor, Hudson’s Hope, Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, and Fort Nelson.

They had been part of the former Peace Curling Association, which became part of Curling Alberta in 2018.

Among other things, this deal means they will now be allowed to host Curl BC events.

“Now that the clubs are in the Curl BC family, they will have access to more benefits, including personal accident insurance for all curlers and the ability to host Curl BC events. We also have great educational programming for all members, including competitors, volunteers, ice makers and managers,” says Cur BC CEO Scott Braley in a news release posted on the Curl BC web site.

“We’re very excited to see this arrangement start to play out. This collaboration will not only offer new benefits and opportunities for engagement among the clubs, but it will also cultivate increased communication, teamwork, and alignment between our neighbouring provinces for the overall good of the sport,” says Curling Alberta Executive Director Jill Richard on that same release.
