Cardinal was nominated for her second full length album Stories from a Downtown Apartment. It was not only the first Juno win for Cardinal, but also the first Juno nomination of her career.

Meantime, two other Peace Country artists came away empty handed from the virtual awards show, which took place Monday after the live awards show was called off back in March due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spirit River’s Aaron Goodvin was edged out for Country Album of the Year by Megan Patrick. Goodvin was nominated for his album V.

Grande Prairie’s Tenille Townes was up for two awards, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, which was won by Lennon Stella, and Songwriter of the Year, which was claimed by Alessia Cara.
