Grant funding applications open for preventative social services, transportation options
The County of Grande Prairie and Community Support Services is now accepting applications for 2021 to provide either preventative social programming or transportation options to seniors or people with special needs.
The County says transportation programs and services are key to helping people access medical appointments, shopping, recreation, or other opportunities. Preventative social service programs should be geared towards enhancing communities by addressing social needs.
“These grant programs are an essential part of enhancing quality of life for County residents,” says Kathleen Turner, FCSS Director, in a release. “The County is proud to partner with and support organizations that strengthen our community through preventative social services and assist people with the travel that is essential to their day to day lives.”
In 2019, $504,453 in FCSS grant funding was distributed to social service organizations in the County, and $149,802 was handed out in Transportation Grants.
