County of Northern Lights area adds COVID-19 case

Alberta saw its total number of COVID-19 cases increase by 47, while the County of Northern Lights recorded its first case on Tuesday.

The County of Northern Lights area, adjacent to Clear Hills County and includes the communities of Manning and Dixonville, now has one active case as of Tuesday’s update.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 6 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 17 cases (One active, 16 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: One cases (Recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 72 cases (One active, 61 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 44 cases (Five active, 34 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: Ten cases (One active, nine recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Active)
  • Mackenzie County: 42 cases (Seven active, 35 recovered)

As of the end of day July 6, there are 620 active cases in the province, while 7,659 people have recovered. Two more deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus were reported in the Edmonton Zone, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in Alberta to 157.

There were 6,020 tests processed by the provincial lab over the last 24 hours, bringing the number of tests completed to 493,935 in Alberta. 34,791 people from northern Alberta have been tested.

There are 54 people in hospital in Alberta, six of whom are in ICU.
