Grande Prairie man charged in Pinnacle area assault case

A Grande Prairie man is facing a number of charges in relation to a break and enter and assault case in the Pinnacle neighbourhood last month.

At around 9:05 p.m. on June 21, the Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault. A male suspect had allegedly entered the residence, before striking the victim several times with a baseball bat, and threatening him with a firearm.

The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived, and the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries by EMS.

Following an investigation into the case, authorities obtained warrants for 33-year-old Adam Wheeler of Grande Prairie. On June 29, Wheeler was apprehended by RCMP in Langley, British Columbia.

Wheeler has been charged with a number of offences, including:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Two counts of uttering threats
  • Break and Enter
  • Mischief

Wheeler is currently in custody, and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 13.
