Hiker killed near Canmore, two others hurt in separate falls
CANMORE, AB – Emergency officials responded to numerous incidents of recreators getting hurt in Kananaskis County.
At approximately 2:10 pm on Saturday, July 11, first responders were called to a trail on Mount Yamnuska.
According to Canmore RCMP, a 30-year-old Calgary man was hiking when he fell approximately 20 feet and sustained injuries. A number of bystanders tried to help him.
“Within minutes of the initial fall, several boulders dislodged from the scree slope above, striking the injured male and the bystanders,” reads a media release from Canmore RCMP. “The male suffered a head injury as a result. First aid and other life-saving measures were initiated by the bystanders.”
