Face coverings and masks to become mandatory inside Grande Prairie Airport

Jul 14, 2020 | 5:01 PM

With the recent influx of travel coming into the Grande Prairie Airport as COVID-19 precautions begin to lift across Alberta, the Airport announced that it will make all travellers wear a mask or face covering inside its Air Terminal Building.

The new rule will come into effect on Saturday, July 18.

Brian Grant the CEO of the airport says that the new rule is to ensure everyone’s safety.

“We continue to monitor our air travel patterns and regional COVID-19 activity to ensure the safest possible travel environment while protecting our communities from potential risks of COVID-19.”

The mask rule already applies to those who are flying on airplanes across the country. The new rule will not be in effect for those that are dropping off or picking somebody up outside the building.

With the new rules coming into effect on Saturday, the current restrictions of the airport only being limited to passengers will be removed.

The Air Terminal Building will also now be open to the public from 4:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
