No new COVID-19 cases in City, County of Grande Prairie

There were no new COVID-19 cases reported in the Grande Prairie area on Wednesday, as the province added 133 new cases for July 21.

The City and County of Grande Prairie each saw one case be shifted to recovered, meaning there are now 11 active cases in the County and eight in the City. The MD of Greenview held at two active cases for the end of day July 21.

In terms of new cases in the Peace Country, one new case was reported in the Clear Hills County area, while two more cases were identified in Mackenzie County.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 21 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 26 cases (Eight active, 18 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 20 cases (11 active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Three cases (Two active, one recovered)
  • Birch Hills County: Two cases (Both active)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (Active)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 72 cases (62 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (42 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: One case (Active)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: One case (Active)
  • Clear Hills County: 23 cases (13 active, ten recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Four cases (Two active, two recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 96 cases (39 active, 56 recovered, one death)

There are now 1,251 active cases in Alberta, while 8,436 people have recovered. Two more deaths were reported in the province, bringing the COVID-19 death toll to 174.

Hospitalizations have now topped 100 in Alberta, increasing to 102 as of July 21. Eighteen of those people admitted to hospital are in ICU.

In the North Zone, 11 people are in hospital with two of those in intensive care.

The province has now surpassed 600,000 completed tests as of July 21, as there have now been 606,465 tests processed during the pandemic, and increase of 8,148 over the last 24 hours. 42,298 people from northern Alberta have been tested as of July 21, an increase of 1,064 over the last two days.
