No new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie area Wednesday

There were no new cases of COVID-19 added in the Grande Prairie area Wednesday, as Alberta added 94 new cases for August 4.

Wednesday’s update saw two of the cases in the M.D. of Greenview change to recovered, while the lone active case in the M.D. of Smoky River area is now recovered. The lone case in the M.D. of Peace area also recovered.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 38 cases (Ten active, 28 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 23 cases (Four active, 19 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Eight cases (Three active, five recovered)
  • Birch Hills County: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (Two active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 73 cases (63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (42 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Two Cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 24 cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 170 cases (55 active, 113 recovered, two deaths)

There were two deaths over the last 24 hours attributed to COVID-19, including one in the Mackenzie County area, making it the second death related to the virus in the area that includes High Level and La Crete. In Alberta, 203 people have died from COVID-19.

Active cases took another drop to 1,146 as of the end of day August 4 in Alberta, while 9,891 people are now recovered (an increase of 137 from the day prior).

Hospitalizations and ICU admissions saw declines over the last 24 hours, as there are now 75 people in hospital, 10 less than Monday. Of those, 20 are in ICU, three less than the day prior. Seven people are in hospital in Northern Alberta, three of whom are in intensive care.

There were 7,197 tests processed on Tuesday, bringing the number of completed tests for COVID-19 to 727,335 since March in Alberta. 50,862 people from the North Zone have been tested as of August 4, an increase of 521 from the day prior.
