Grande Prairie Public Library reopening full library beginning Monday

Aug 7, 2020 | 4:34 PM

Beginning Monday, August 10, the Grande Prairie Public Library will be moving forward in its reopening plan, allowing users to browse the library’s entire collection.

Director of the GPPL Deb Cryderman says as they allow visitors back into the library, safety of both staff and users is top of mind.

“Social distancing will be in place and we’ve removed some seating to make it easier,” said Cryderman. “Materials will be quarantined for 3 days and custodial staff will be cleaning tables and chairs every 2 hours.”

With that goal, the library says masks will be mandatory inside the facility. Packages of free masks will also be available, courtesy of the provincial government.

Those who are unable to wear a mask are still able to make other arrangements.

“We will be continuing our popular Curbside Pickup for those who are unable to visit or are uncomfortable coming into the Library.”

At this time, in-person programs at the library will not be implemented, however virtual programs will continue. Public computer use is also now available on a drop-in basis.

Beginning the week of August 17, open hours will be extended to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursday the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
