One new COVID-19 case and two recoveries in Grande Prairie, 84 new cases identified in Alberta

One new case of COVID-19 was recorded the City of Grande Prairie, but two cases have also recovered, meaning there are now 11 active cases in the Swan City.

A new case was also identified in the County of Grande Prairie, where one more person has also recovered from the novel coronavirus.

The largest increase in cases in the Peace Region came in the County of Northern Lights, where four new cases were identified, bringing the total of active cases up to six. Two new cases were also identified in Mackenzie County, where there are 55 active cases, 154 recoveries, and five deaths.

Alberta’s active COVID-19 case count remained flat at 1,036, despite 84 new cases being identified in the province. 10,796 Albertans have now recovered from the novel coronavirus.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 48 cases (11 active, 37 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 29 cases (Six active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Eight cases (Seven recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Two cases (Both recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 73 cases (63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (One active, 41 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Eight cases (One active, seven recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Two Cases (Both recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 25 cases (One active, 24 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 11 cases (Six active, five recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 214 cases (55 active, 154 recovered, five deaths)

Hospitalizations in Alberta decreased to 48, with 13 of those individuals in intensive care. In Northern Alberta, six people are in hospital, an increase of one from the previous day, with three in an ICU, two more than the day before.

Across Alberta, 8,199 tests were processed on Friday, bringing the number of tests completed in the province to 801,360 on 652,819 people.

In the North Zone, 55,106 people have been tested, an increase of 573 from the day prior.
