The Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL announced on Tuesday that they’ve signed Beaverlodge, Alberta native Nolan Flint for the 2020-21 season.

The 18-year-old forward spent the last two seasons playing Major U18 AAA for the Grande Peace Ernie’s Sports Storm of the Alberta Elite Hockey League.

During his two seasons with the Ernie’s Sports Storm, Flint registered 43 points in 66 games, including 29 points in 32 games last season, which was good enough for second on the team in scoring.

His play last season helped earn him a call up by the Okotoks Oilers for a quick one game stint against the Brooks Bandits back on January 31.

Oilers Head Coach and General Manager Tyler Deis spoke highly of Flint following the signing.

“Nolan is an exceptional player with great strength, skating ability, and scoring touch. He is a coachable player with strong hockey IQ and the ability to adapt to the changing style of play. Nolan’s development path has been very consistent, and he will be a great addition to the Oiler lineup this season. He will be an exceptional player in this league.”

At the moment, it’s unknown when the AJHL regular season could start.

Last week, the league announced that all 15 of it’s teams will be participating in the league development season, which will include larger training camp rosters, ice-time, and inter-squad scrimmages. Development season camp is allowed to open on August 31.
