Severe thunderstorm watch in place for Grande Prairie area

A severe thunderstorm watch has been put in place for the Grande Prairie area by Environment Canada.
The watch is in effect for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview area, stretching north to the Peace River, High Prairie, Manning and High Level areas.
The weather office says conditions are favourable for thunderstorms to develop later this afternoon, with the possibility of some of those becoming severe.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”
