The Grande Prairie RCMP helped bring in a suspect in a Sturgeon Lake attempted murder case on Saturday, while also charging the driver of the vehicle he was in following a pursuit that began in Debolt.

At around 2:20 p.m. on August 15, Grande Prairie RCMP were patrolling in the Ridge Valley area when they were alerted of the possible location of one of the four suspects in the Sturgeon Lake case.

Following up on the tip, police found the suspect in a vehicle in Debolt, which led to an RCMP pursuit after the vehicle allegedly fled from police.

Though the suspect attempted to evade police custody, the vehicle was brought to a halt just after 3 p.m. on Township Road 703A.

The passenger, 22-year-old Dorian Harvey of Valleyview, was then arrested. In addition to the attempted murder charge he is facing, Harvey is charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for a peace officer and resisting arrest. Harvey remains in custody and was to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court Wednesday.

Thirty-two-year-old Preston Goodswimmer of Valleyview, who was the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody about an hour after Harvey as they attempted to get away from police. Goodswimmer was caught with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services.

Goodswimmer is charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance, breach of recognizance and two counts of possession of ammunition while prohibited. They remain in custody and were also slated to appear in Grande Prairie Court Wednesday.

As for the other three suspects in the Sturgeon Lake attempted murder case, 37-year-olds Colin Aulden Bartlett and Albert John Gladue, as well as 39-year-old Tamara Marie Chowace – all of Sturgeon Lake – still have active warrants out for their arrest.

RCMP consider all three to be armed and dangerous and they should not be approached if spotted. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
