Tenille Townes wins early ACM Award

Grande Prairie’s own Tenille Townes has earned the Academy of Country Music Award for the New Female Artist category.

Townes had thought she was going to be calling in to an interview, but was surprised when Keith Urban showed up on the video call, and broke the news to her.

In the video call, which was shared on Twitter, Keith Urban said “Congratulations, you are the ACM New Female Artist of the Year, Tenille Townes.”

Urban also broke the news that Townes would be playing at the Academy of Country Music Awards, which will be held on September 16.

“Wow, I will never forget this day as long as I live” said Townes after receiving the news.

Townes wasn’t the only one surprised with an early award, Urban also hopped into a video call with Riley Green, and announced that he had won the ACM’s New Male Artist Award. Similarly to the call with Townes, Urban also told Green that he would be playing the ACM Awards.
