Peace River School Division Superintendent announces retirement

Aug 21, 2020 | 3:08 PM

Dr. Paul Bennett has announced that the upcoming school year will be his final one as superintendent of the Peace River School Division.

Bennett, who has spent over 25 years with the division, including the past 11 as superintendent, made the announcement at the division’s school trustees meeting on Thursday.

After becoming principal at Worsley School in 1994, Bennett moved on to Fairview Junior/Senior High school to become it’s principal in 1997.

During his time there, he was instrumental in the co-ordination and opening of the Fairview and Area Learning Store in 2005.

Among his highlights as superintendent were the construction and opening of Grimshaw Public School in 2017, and the modernization of Menno Simons Community school in Cleardale.

In a news release, school division officials say the search for Bennett’s replacement will begin in the near future.
