Province agrees to support study of Edmonton-Calgary hyperloop

Aug 25, 2020 | 10:47 AM

The Alberta government says it has signed an agreement for a company that designs hyperloop transportation networks to look into a high-speed connection between Edmonton and Calgary.

TransPod has offices in Toronto and France, and has agreed to study the feasibility of using low-pressure, frictionless tubes to move people and cargo at speeds up to 1,000 kilometres an hour.

TransPod says the province has not endorsed the hyperloop or committed any funds to the study.

Talks on a high-speed link between Alberta’s two largest cities have surfaced every so often for years.
