One new COVID-19 case in Grande Prairie, 108 in Alberta

There were 108 new COVID-19 cases added in Alberta for August 26, while there was one new case identified in the City of Grande Prairie.

The new case brings the active case total in the Swan City to 27, to go with 49 recoveries and two deaths. For Wednesday, there was no change in the County of Grande Prairie or MD of Greenview.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 78 cases (27 active, 49 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 43 cases (14 active, 29 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 11 cases (Three active, seven recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 12 cases (Two active, 10 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Two Cases (Both recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 38 cases (13 active, 25 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (Two active, four recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 18 cases (Seven active, 11 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 272 cases (57 active, 206 recovered, nine deaths)

Active cases in Alberta now sit at 1,158 as 124 more cases moved to recovered, bringing that total to 11,923.

There were two more deaths linked to COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 237. One of those deaths was identified in the Mackenzie County area, becoming the ninth fatality related to the novel coronavirus in that area.

Hospitalizations increased by one to 49 in Alberta, with seven of those individuals in ICU. In the North Zone, there are now 10 people in hospital with one in intensive care.

Over 10,000 tests were processed on Wednesday, bringing the total number of tests completed in Alberta to 922,397 on 736,405 people. In the North Zone, 63,417 people have been tested, an increase of 822 for Wednesday.
