Three new COVID-19 cases, three recoveries in Grande Prairie

Alberta added 164 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, three of which came in the City of Grande Prairie.

The three new cases in the Swan City come as there were three more recoveries on August 31, leaving the active case total in the City at 20, to go with 63 recoveries and two deaths.

The County of Grande Prairie saw no new cases on Monday, as four more cases recovered. There are now seven active cases in that area.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, the lone active case in the Big Lakes County area moved to recovered, leaving no active cases there. The M.D. of Fairview added four new COVID-19 cases, while Clear Hills County added two new cases.

Another fatality linked to COVID-19 was identified in the Mackenzie County area, becoming the tenth fatality in that area to be linked to COVID-19. That deat hwas one of two reported in Alberta, bringing the provincial death toll to 241 as of the end of August.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 31 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 85 cases (20 active, 63 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 43 cases (Seven active, 36 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 12 cases (Four active, seven recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 49 cases (44 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Six cases (one active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 12 cases (One active, 11 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: Ten cases (Eight active, two recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 55 cases (26 active, 28 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 19 cases (Four active, 15 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 298 cases (60 active, 228 recovered, 10 deaths)

In Alberta there are now 1,398 active cases, while there are 12,427 cases considered recovered.

Hospitalizations in Alberta jumped up to 50 for August 31, up from 44 the day prior. Of those 50 Albertans in hospital, 10 are in intensive care. In the North Zone, 11 people are hospitalized with one of those individuals in ICU.

The province processed 9,334 tests on Monday, bringing the total number of tests completed as of August 31 to 976,423 on 773,854 Albertans. In the North Zone, 67,889 people have been tested, an increase of 1,141 on Monday.
