Thursday marked a COVID-19 milestone in Alberta, as the province surpassed 1,000,000 tests processed since March.

As the provincial lab turned around 10,709 tests on Thursday, the province reached 1,005,001 tests processed on 792,965 Albertans as of the end of day September 3.

“The milestone that we’ve hit is a testament to the innovation of our public health lab, to the tireless efforts of our staff and partners, such as pharmacists who are taking the samples, and the lab processing them,” said chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, during her update Thursday.

“It is a good opportunity to recognize the work that has gone into that number, and really celebrate all of that work and those contributions.”
