Alberta adds 619 new COVID-19 cases over long weekend, Grande Prairie adds two new cases

Alberta Health announced 619 new cases of COVID-19 over the Labour Day long weekend

Five new COVID-19 deaths were reported, bringing the total to 247. The province tested 47,406 people over the weekend.

Grande Prairie added just two new COVID-19 cases and while seven more people recovered, meaning there are now 11 active cases in the Swan City.

The County of Grande Prairie added three new cases and saw two recoveries, meaning there are three active cases there.

Saddle Hills County also added it’s first COVID-19 case over the weekend.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day September 7 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 90 cases (11 active, 77 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 46 cases (Three active, 43 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 12 cases (11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Nine cases (Six active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Seven cases (Two active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 16 cases (Four active, 12 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (Six active, 10 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 76 cases (22 active, 53 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 28 cases (Nine active, 19 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (One active, 0 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 344 cases (66 active, 268 recovered, 10 deaths)

Active cases in the province grew to 1,692 from 1,433 on Friday, while hospitalizations fell by two from 47 to 45, while ICU admissions grew by one to 10.

In the North Zone, seven people are in hospital and one is in the ICU.

In total, 1,052,446 COVID-19 tests have been completed.
