Costco and Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation Pediatric Penguin Campaign in full swing

Sep 8, 2020 | 5:18 PM

Costco in Grande Prairie has once again partnered with the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation to launch the Pediatric Penguin Campaign.

It encourages those who shop at Costco to buy a paper penguin, with the money going to the Foundation.

“The campaign itself typically runs in May and this year it was postponed until now,” explained Shannon Stambaugh with the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.

“Going until October 4, you can go down to the Grande Prairie Costco and buy yourself a penguin. What that will do is help support children’s initiatives. This year it is going to be a purchase of a Babyleo IncuWarmer, which is the next best thing to a mother’s womb.”

Stambaugh says that this campaign has been successful in the past and will help benefit the community for years to come.

“Last year, over $60,000 was raised and that went towards the purchase of two Pediatric MEDi Robots that are going to be at the new hospital.”

She added that in 2018, the Foundation was also able to purchase two infant ventilators, which will also be used at the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Those who are interested in donating, but do not shop at Costco, can still donate.

Stambaugh recommends that you head to the Hospital Foundation’s website, where you can donate any amount of money that you would like.

For those who shop at Costco, you can purchase a penguin at the checkout.
