Crews investigating early morning blaze in downtown Grande Prairie

Sep 12, 2020 | 1:06 PM

Fire crew investigators are looking into the cause of a early morning fire in the city’s downtown.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department was called a little before 5:30 a.m. regarding a blaze in the area of 102 Avenue and 101 Street.

Two engines, one ladder truck and a command unit were dispatched to the fire.

When they arrived, smoke and fire was visible through the roof of the building.

Officials say the fire was quickly knocked down, but that crews remained on the scene for a few more hours to extinguish hot spots in concealed areas and perform salvage operations.

Nobody was injured.
