COVID-19 case confirmed at Riverstone Public School

Sep 15, 2020 | 12:29 PM

On Monday, September 14, Alberta Health Services notified the Grande Prairie Public School Division of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Riverstone Public School.

AHS is contacting the families of students who may have come in close contact with the individual, and are asking those students to stay home. The school will provide supports to ensure those students are able to complete their school work during their quarantine period.

AHS will also contact any staff, visitors or volunteers who came in contact with the individual, whose identity is not being released.

Meanwhile, the school is open for in-class learning for students who were not contacted by AHS, and school staff has thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the items and surfaces and areas the individual touched. Items that could not be cleaned, such as papers and books, have been stored in sealed containers.

Parents, guardians and caretakers of students who attend Riverstone are advised to monitor their children for any symptoms of COVID-19, and if they present themselves, then that student should stay home and fill out AHS’s online COVID-19 assessment, or call Health Link at 811. Staff, volunteers and visitors at the school are asked to do the same.

Families are also reminded to follow Alberta Health’s daily checklist each day before attending school.

The GPPSD says that anyone with questions should contact their school.
