FCC AgriSpirt Fund grants announced

Four grants from the 2020 round of funding from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund are coming to Northwestern Alberta and Northeastern BC.

The City is getting $25,000 for a new water treatment system for the Dave Barr Arena’s ice-making equipment. This will eliminate the need for hot water in ice making.

A release from the City says this is expected to cut energy use at the facility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 tonnes a year.

The Beaverlodge Firefighters Association will be getting $20,000 to buy new vehicle extrication tools.

The Guy-Donnelly Sportex Society is getting $15,000 for roof repairs at the Sportex, upgrades to the badminton court, and for some other new equipment.

On the BC side, the Sunset Prairie Recreation Commission will use its $10,000 to build a new stage at the fairgrounds.
