Mobile mammography unit coming to Spirit River

Alberta Health Services will bring its Screen Test program to Spirit River next month.

The mobile mammography unit will be stationed at the Central Peace Health Complex from October 5 to 10.

AHS says the Screen Test, an x-ray of the chest, is the most effective means of early detection of breast cancer. This, in turn, means more treatment options and a better chance at survival.

AHS adds because COVID-19 has delayed the testing schedule, women from the Silver Valley area can also get a test while the unit is in Spirit River.

Anyone interested in having a test can call 1-800-667-0604 to book an appointment.
