City, County of Grande Prairie each add new case of COVID-19

The City and County of Grande Prairie each added one new case of COVID-19, as the province confirmed 143 new cases for September 22.

The County now has ten active cases, while the City saw one more recovery, keeping its active case total at six.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, the Spirit River area now sits with no active cases as its lone active case has recovered, while there were six recoveries in Clear Hills County, dropping the active case total there to three.

One new case was added in both the M.D. of Peace area, as well as the Mackenzie County area.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of September 22 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 98 cases (six active, 90 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 58 cases (ten active, 48 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 15 cases (three active, 11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 15 cases (three active, 11 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 26 cases (three active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (all recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 87 cases (three active, 83 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 10 cases (three active, seven recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 cases (20 active, 34 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 392 cases (23 active, 356 recovered, 13 deaths)

Active cases in Alberta declined in Wednesday’s update to 1,520, while 15,252 people are now considered recovered as of September 22.

There were two more deaths, including one more in the Mackenzie County area, bringing the provincial death toll linked to COVID-19 to 260.

Hospitalizations increased from the day prior to 59 as of the end of day Tuesday, with 13 of those individuals in intensive care. In the North Zone, four people are in hospital, none of whom are in ICU.

The provincial lab processed 12,317 more tests on Tuesday, bringing the total number of completed tests since March to 1,242,263 on 950,201 Albertans.
