Harvest continuing in the Peace Country

Sep 23, 2020 | 2:42 PM

The September 15 crop report from Alberta Agriculture says just over 12 per cent of the combining was done in the Peace Country as of that date.

The five-year average for that time of year is 15 per cent, with the 10-year average sitting at 26.5 per cent.

The report says showers and cool weather during the week previous slowed harvest progress.

Forty-five per cent of the peas, 12 per cent of the spring wheat, eight per cent of the barley, five per cent of the oats and four per cent of the canola had been combined.

Sixty-one per cent of the crops were still standing, while 27 per cent were swathed. Fifty-four per cent of the canola had been swathed.
