Boater dies along the Peace River Tuesday

Sep 24, 2020 | 2:05 PM

One man has died from injuries he sustained while boating along the Peace River on Tuesday.

Fairview RCMP, along with resources from the Spirit River RCMP, responded to a satellite SOS call at around 9:15 p.m. on September 22 from boaters that were stranded along the river. The Fairview Fire Department and EMS also assisted in the rescue efforts.

Four individuals were located as crews found the stranded boaters, with one male critically injured. He later died at the scene, despite efforts to save him by EMS.

No further details on the incident were released by RCMP, other than that an autopsy is scheduled for a later date at the Chief Medical Examiners Office in Edmonton.
