A stop of a suspicious vehicle on Tuesday night has led to a litany of firearms charges for a Grande Prairie man.

On the night of September 22, at around 11:45 p.m., while conducting patrols, Grande Prairie RCMP observed the vehicle at a gas station on 116 Avenue and 96 Street. As police conducted the traffic stop, the driver was found to be in breach of his curfew conditions and was arrested at the scene.

As police searched the vehicle, they seized three rifles, a shotgun and various types of ammunition.

Thirty-two-year-old Andrew Haugseth is now facing 26 charges related to the incident, including five counts each of breach of firearms prohibition and failing to comply with an undertaking.

He also faces four counts each of careless use, storage and transportation of a firearm, possession of firearms knowing unauthorized, unauthorized possession of firearm in a vehicle and unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition.

Following a judicial hearing, Haugseth was remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on September 28.
