No new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie area

Active COVID-19 cases in Alberta declined on Wednesday, as there were no new cases identified in the Grande Prairie area for September 23.

For Thursday’s update, one active case in the City of Grande Prairie was removed, dropping the active case total in the Swan City to five. One more case in both the County of Grande Prairie and MD of Greenview also recovered for September 23.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day Wednesday are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 97 cases (five active, 90 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 58 cases (nine active, 49 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 15 cases (two active, 11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 15 cases (three active, 11 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 25 cases (two active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (all recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 88 cases (two active, 85 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (three active, six recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 cases (six active, 48 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 394 cases (15 active, 366 recovered, 13 deaths)

Active cases dropped to 1,462 for the end of day Wednesday, as the province saw an increase of 158 new cases of COVID-19. Recoveries increased by 215 to 15,467, while one more person has died, bringing the province’s death toll related to COVID-19 to 261.

Hospitalizations sat at 58 for September 23, with 14 of those individuals in ICU. In the North Zone, four people are in hospital with no one in ICU with COVID-19.

The provincial lab processed 12,765 tests on Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 1,255,039 on 958,534 people.
