Tenille Townes kicks off CCMA Awards weekend with a pair of awards on Saturday night

Sep 27, 2020 | 10:38 AM

Canadian Country Music Association awards weekend has gotten off to a great start for Grande Prairie’s Tenille Townes.

She picked up both songwriter and video of the year for “Jersey on the Wall” during awards that were announced Saturday night.

It’s the second straight year that Townes has won both of those honours.

She is still up for four more awards – TD Entertainer of the Year, Fans Choice Award, Female Artist of the Year and Interactive Artist of the year.

The winner in those categories will be announced during the main CCMA awards event, which goes Sunday night on Global TV.

The two awards were the capper of a pretty amazing day for Townes, who was also asked to sing the American national anthem prior to game 5 of the Stanley Cup final.
