Spruce Grove elevator named Provincial Historic Resource

Oct 8, 2020 | 1:42 PM

The old Alberta Wheat Pool elevator in Spruce Grove has been designated a Provincial Historic Resource.

The province says in a release it is being recognized for its importance in Alberta history as it is the last remaining wooden elevator along the CN line west of Edmonton.

It was built in 1958 and is now a museum.

The designation means the elevator cannot be torn down or have changes made to what makes it historic. Owners are also eligible to get grants to restore and conserve such buildings.
