Harvest progress ahead of five-year average

Oct 13, 2020 | 2:25 PM

The October 6 crop report from Alberta Agriculture says 82.9 per cent of the Peace Region crop had been combined as of that date.

That is well ahead of the five-year average of 55.5 per cent and the 10-year average of 66.9 per cent.

The report says ideal harvest weather led to the quick progress and that 40 per cent of the harvest was done in a week.

Crop quality is reported above average, with 87 per cent of the spring wheat grading Number 2 or better and 50 per cent Number 1.
