UPDATE: Owner of kayak found along Peace River found

UPDATE (3:40 p.m. Oct. 13): Peace Regional RCMP says they have been contacted by the owner of the kayak and confirmed that no one is believed to be missing in the Peace River. The RCMP thank the public for their assistance.

RCMP in Peace River are hoping to find the owner of a kayak that was found floating empty along the river near the Peace River bridge on Tuesday morning.

Peace Regional RCMP received a report of the empty kayak near the bridge construction site at around 11:22 a.m. The Peace River Fire Department picked up the kayak a short distance from the location where it was originally reported to be.

The kayak is a yellow, liquidlogic remix kayak, and authorities are asking for the owner to come forward. If anyone knows of any overdue travellers who may have disembarked anywhere in the area, please contact the Peace River RCMP at 780-624-6611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
