Individual at Alexander Forbes School tests positive for COVID-19

Oct 16, 2020 | 6:01 PM

The Grande Prairie Public School Division says it has been informed that an individual from Alexander Forbes School has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter issued on Friday afternoon, the division says that the school will continue to be open for in-person learning, and that school administration has reached out to the families of students who are believed to be close contacts of the individual.

“If you have not received a phone call, your student has not been identified as a close contact at this time and can continue to attend in-person classes,” reads the notice.

“Alberta Health Services will be contacting parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff/visitors/volunteers who may have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive.”

The division says AHS will monitor the situation. More information will be provided when it is available.

During Friday’s COVID-19 update, Alberta chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said that there had been 489 cases identified in schools across the province. As of Friday, no outbreaks have been declared at any Grande Prairie area schools.
